Day 1 of the 30 Day Blogging Challenge: 15 ~Interesting Facts~ About Me


1. My favorite celebrity is Kim Kardashian. I own her book of selfies called Selfish.

2. My favorite places I've ever traveled to are London, England; Barcelona, Spain; and New York, New York.

3. I love going to Noodles & Company and making a grape Fanta on the Coke Freestyler.

4. I've been to seven runnings of the Indianapolis 500, and have met most of the drivers.

5. I won my school's spelling bee when I was in the fourth grade.

6. I can't do impressions very well, but I can do a lot of funny voices!

7. When I was a senior in high school I ran a 5K in 22 minutes. Then the next week I got my third stress fracture.


8. Yellow is my favorite flavor of Starburst and I eat them by taking the tiniest bites that I can.

9. I am one of the only liberals in my family.

10. I've seen Joe Biden speak.

11. I love candy so much that I have to restrict myself to eating my favorite candies during certain parts of the year. For example, I only let myself eat Candy Corn in October and Starburst jelly beans in April. I don't have any rules about Mike n Ike's though.

12. Jesse McCartney called me on my eighth birthday because my mom won a contest on Radio Disney.

13. Had I been born on my due date, I would share a birthday with my father and great-grandfather, but I was born a few days too early.

14. I went to Sigma Kappa convention in 2016 and met Donna King, the chairwoman of the National Panhellenic Conference.


15. I come off as very quiet and reserved, but I have been described by a close friend as a "for real freak."

From the Other Side

This week, I experienced several events from the “other side.” First, my sorority had a depinning ceremony for our new members to prepare them for initiation. Then, I traveled home to watch my high school’s showchoirs compete in the State Showchoir competition. Finally, we had initiation for our new members. In all three events, I felt like I experienced them from an entirely new (and unfamiliar) perspective. Depinning is a ceremony we do for our new members on the Thursday night before initiation. At most of our ceremonies, we wear all white. Depinning is the one ceremony where we wear all black. It was so fun to watch my new friends during depinning, especially since I was on the other side of depinning just last semester and knew how excited they must have felt. New Year, New Blog Post

At a gathering on New Year’s Eve, I was asked to reflect on something good from my year in 2015, and to look ahead towards something I am looking forward to for 2016. As we went around the table sharing our answers, I found it very difficult to narrow it down to just one event for each. It was in this moment, as I came closer and closer to being the next person to speak, that I realized this is not such a terrible problem to have. I am extremely blessed with the people in my life, as well as the many opportunities I was presented in 2015. In 2015, I embraced leadership positions in my sorority, Sigma Kappa, as well as expanded relationships with my sisters. Intro: Welcome Week and First Day of Classes

Welcome to my blog! I've been thinking of beginning a blog for a while now, and my transition to college life seems like the perfect platform! Additionally, I am beginning my track to an English major; it never hurts to write more! I appreciate many of my family and friends' interest in my beginning days on campus, welcome week, and all my new classes. By beginning this blog, I hope to give you all a view into my daily life as I transition into college.  I moved on campus on Wednesday, August 13th. My move-in was smooth with my awesome roommate Casey! Saying goodbye to my parents after we were all moved in was difficult, but all of us are excited for my new adventures! Yesterday, August 18, was the first day of classes. The five days in between move-in and classes showed no shortage of fun activities for incoming freshmen!
